Honest answers

Stripe + Freewebstore, the questions you actually have.

  • Is Stripe free to use with Freewebstore?

Stripe is included on every Freewebstore plan, including the free Community plan. Stripe charges its own per-transaction fees (e.g. 1.4% + 20p for UK cards, 2.9% + 30¢ for US cards). Freewebstore takes a separate platform fee (2.5% on Community, 0.5% on paid plans).

  • Do I need a Stripe account already?

You’ll create one when you connect — takes about ten minutes. You need basic business details and a bank account for Stripe to send your money to.

  • Can I use Stripe alongside PayPal?

Yes — many Freewebstore stores run Stripe and PayPal in parallel so shoppers pick what they prefer. Note: if PayPal Advanced Card Payments is enabled, PayPal takes precedence for cards. Disable that if you want Stripe to handle card payments.

  • Does Stripe support Apple Pay and Google Pay?

Yes — both are enabled automatically when you connect Stripe to Freewebstore. No extra configuration needed.

  • What countries does Stripe work in?

Stripe operates in 47+ countries including the UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, India, South Africa, UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand and Hong Kong. It supports 135+ currencies. The most comprehensive option for most international stores.
