Connecting Stripe takes two minutes.

  1. Sign up for a Stripe account at stripe.com (or sign in if you already have one).
  2. In Freewebstore, go to Orders > Payment Gateways > Stripe.
  3. Click “Connect with Stripe” and authorise the connection.
  4. Apple Pay and Google Pay are enabled automatically — nothing extra to do.
  5. Test with a card, then go live.

  • How do I connect Stripe to my Freewebstore?

    Go to Orders > Payment Gateways > Stripe. Sign in to your Stripe account, authorise the connection, and start accepting card payments. Apple Pay and Google Pay are enabled automatically.

  • What fees does Stripe charge?

    Stripe’s fees are set by Stripe directly — typically around 1.4% + 20p for UK cards, with variations by country and card type. Freewebstore adds a small platform fee on top (2.5% on Community, 0.5% on paid plans).

  • Can I use Stripe and PayPal together?

    Yes. Stripe handles cards and digital wallets; PayPal Wallet runs alongside for customers who prefer PayPal. Disable PayPal Advanced Card Payments if you want Stripe to handle all card transactions.
