Payments & security
If you run a shop on Freewebstore
When someone shops on your store, you are the data controller for your customers’ personal data and we are your data processor. You decide what happens to that data; we run the platform on your instructions. That split matters, because it means you need to be able to describe accurately, in your own privacy notice, what happens when somebody visits your shop.
Our Privacy Policy now sets this out separately for our own websites and control panel and for shops built with Freewebstore. If you are writing or reviewing your shop’s privacy policy, the second half of section 9 is the part you need: it lists the cookies a shop sets, how long each one lasts, and what we record without using cookies at all.
Documents we are preparing
A Data Processing Addendum, a sub-processor list and a description of our technical and organisational security measures are being finalised and will be published here. Until they are, we would rather send you the current position in writing than publish something we have not finished checking — email privacy@freewebstore.com and a person will reply.
Exercising your rights
Email privacy@freewebstore.com to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal data, to object to processing, or to complain about how we have handled it. You do not need a Freewebstore account to use this route. It is open to anyone, including customers of shops built on Freewebstore — though if you shopped on a merchant’s store, that merchant is the controller of your data and we will normally need to pass your request to them.
We reply within one month, as data protection law requires. We may ask you to verify your identity before releasing or deleting personal data.
Reporting a security problem
Email security@freewebstore.com. Please give us enough detail to reproduce the issue, and please do not access, modify or delete data belonging to anyone else while testing.
